Cease Striving and Know that He is God
I came across this photo of a lion recently, something I found online awhile ago, and it struck me in a fresh way. The Lord has been speaking to me about rest lately, about what it really means to be seated with Him in the heavenly places. The face of this lion sums it up so beautifully. When I look at it, I see rest. I see peace. I see authority. And I see tremendous purpose. Just like the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, this lion knows who he is, what he’s capable of, what he’s called to do, and he is at rest in those realities. When Jesus arrived at the well in Samaria, a place He knew He must pass through, He was weary from His journey so He sat down. Seated by the well, at rest in the true Source of living water, He soon found Himself face to face with His purpose for being there. From that place of rest, His truth, power, and grace impacted a woman who later helped lead a city to His feet.
This journey will undoubtedly make us weary at times. To be at rest does not mean to lack purpose. There are truths to be spoken, lives to be impacted, decisions to be made, and there is work to be done. There is a Lion seated inside you, One who is full of peace, authority, and purpose to face every task at hand. He is the One who has raised you up and seated you with Him in the heavenly places. Come back to the well, sit expectantly with the Source, and watch His will unfold before you. I read a comment this week from Rick Joyner on Matthew 11:28-30 – “A yoke speaks of work, but when we are yoked with the Lord, it will be His strength that does the work, and we just get carried along for the ride! It is the Spirit that He has given to us that will do the work, just as He did from the beginning.” His yoke is easy and His burden is indeed light.
